LMO Exceeds Goal in 30-Day ‘Gobble Gobble Step Challenge’ to Raise Money for Local Food Bank, Animal Shelter
Marketing communications agency pledges donations to Arlington, Va., non-profits
ARLINGTON, Va. – December 19, 2023 – The team at LMO, a full-service marketing and communications agency, recently participated in a step challenge to raise money for two organizations in the Northern Virginia community. In the spirit of the holiday season, LMO launched the “Gobble-Gobble 30-Day Steps Challenge” on November 6.
To promote physical, mental, and emotional health, LMOers were challenged to walk 7,000 steps per day for 30 days. The team was challenged to reach 2 million steps. If staff met the overall step goal, the agency agreed to donate to the Arlington Food Assistance Center and Animal Welfare League of Arlington.
Since 1988, the Arlington Food Assistance Center has worked towards its simple but critical mission of obtaining and distributing groceries, directly and free of charge, to people living in Arlington who cannot afford to purchase enough food to meet their basic needs.
The LMO team contains many animal lovers and supporting the Animal Welfare League of Arlington (AWLA) was a natural fit. For more than 75 years, the AWLA has served the Arlington community with animal sheltering and control services to help pet owners keep their animals healthy, happy and home.
Not known to back away from a challenge, LMO surpassed its goal with 4,057,900 steps by 17 team members. The team crushed its goal by the end of week 3, with 2.8 million steps! Because LMO steppers exceeded the goal, each organization received an additional $100, for a total of $700 between the two non-profits.
“It was wonderful to see the camaraderie in the team grow throughout the challenge,” shares Karen Laughlin, CEO. “It was a fun way to give back to our local community. We’re looking forward to doing more challenges like this. Our competitive spirit came out!”
The LMOer with the most steps at the end of the challenge, Cori Brooks, senior communications writer, was also awarded a small prize.
