Today LMO remembers Ron Owens, the “O” in LMO. A legend in the advertising community, Ron helped start LMO in October 1995 and was a Partner until he semi-retired in the early 2000s. We say “semi” because Ron was active in the advertising community until the day he passed. He wrote articles, consulted and helped cultivate a new generation of talent through programs with Howard University and Morgan State University.
Ron served as an Army Captain after graduating Morgan State College, receiving a Silver Star Medal and Bronze Star in Vietnam. After Vietnam, he began his advertising career as an account executive at NW Ayer in New York. He was part of the legendary “Be All You Can Be” recruitment campaign at the start of the all-volunteer military. Following his success with NW Ayer, Ron worked for other major advertising agencies, including Mingo Jones, JWT, DDB Needham Worldwide and Bozell Worldwide.
While at LMO, Ron played an integral role in all of LMO’s business, especially our Military business. He managed Operations, Account Services and Business Development, helping to build LMO from the ground up.
Ron was an amazing person with unbelievable energy, positivity and thoughtfulness. He exemplified our People First motto and never stopped advocating for LMO. The advertising community will miss him, but his legacy will live on with the “O.”
